La búsqueda completada

The Completed Quest

--Paulo Coelho

Quest for Lodging - Learning to Live Lightly
I often live in the future and this often means living with fears. How much better to remain in the now confident that the future will have many moments equally peaceful to now.

My View from Patio
Right now, it is between 5 and 6 am. The roosters are crowing; it is the dark before the first glimmers of dawn; someone is making a sound as if sweeping the sidewalk, and I am transported back to early morning walks in Guadalajara (2005) watching morning sweepers gather all the fallen blooms from the frangipani trees as I walked to the school where I taught English, gloves on due to the morning chill. This morning, now, I sit with a light, long-sleeved sweater and yoga pants, as it is equally cool almost every morning here in Melaque this February, 2019.

As there are no wide paved, frangipani lined wide streets in this small town, only narrow cobblestoned or sandy streets, there is no need for sweepers. The sound is mostly likely from the daily set-up of the taco stand across the (partially in) narrow soon very busy street in front of my lodging.
Taco Stand before 1:00 PM Closure

The first busses will soon pass; not long after, I will hear the animated voices of many secondary school students walking to the nearby school, smart in their school uniforms.

Then the cars, small two-people taxis, motorbikes, and bicycles will pass in both directions despite Morales being a one-way street.

Translation

We stayed for a good long while drinking and talking together about non-serious subjects. My heart was in peace. It let me live that moment, without fear of loosing something, or person next to me, the next day. So the time could pass more slowly and I could remain in silence if I chose this; we had the rest of life to talk.
