(Aguas! Colloquial Mexico)
In the last two days, two more 'accidents' came my way, one inadvertently while striding with pleasure on the lovely flat wet sand in the West end of Melaque, towards the Melecón.

I stepped on something and experienced as intense a pain as I ever remembered it. Well, pain does have a way of taking over all past memories.... :-)
The pain throbbed and built as I tried to limp onwards. ("Le pie me duele!") I sat down and pulled out what might have been a wing or slight brown husk. I noted a red very tiny puncture. I sat down again and tears were not far away. (Casi lloré.) Looking for help, I chose a Mexican couple. (Mirando/Buscando de ayuda, vi una pareja mexicana.)

Being from here, they might know the cause. Of course, they might not speak English. They did not, but with my Spanish and their slowed down Spanish, I learned that there is a type of thorn from a tree (el arbol) that, if stepped on, can cause this pain. No, not necessary to see a pharmacist; ocean water and a garlic (el ajo) cloves rubbed on puncture could help. We all laughed when I said I had almost cried.

By now the pain was manageable, and I bought a garlic clove on the way home, and once home, cut and rubbed garlic on the sole of my foot. By bedtime, there was no more pain.
The best part was the exchange with the couple. Maybe worth the pain. Yes, in retrospect, yes.

The second accident was really one. Last night, walking home from my almost nightly people-watching-visit with Tina, and her husband and brother in the central plaza.
